IKO Assistant Trainer Course (ATC)
The Assistant Trainer Course (ATC) is the first step to become an Iko Instructor and is accessible to all the independent kitesurfer. If you know how to ride upwind, perform a self rescue and land and launch your kite properly and safely you can access to the ATC .
With the goal of being trained to work as Assistant at IKO Centers around the world, the ATC course will give you the opportunity to improve your overall knowledge about kitesurfing and become a strong and ultra confident rider.
You will learn more about:
- safety and rescue skills -gain extra theoretical knowledge such as: meteorology, tides, how wind reacts under different conditions and in different spots, aerodynamics, International signs, maintenance of your gear and equipment, right of way rules etc
- practical skills for a more efficient and safe riding
- teach the basics of a kite lesson
After you get your ATC diploma, you will be allowed to access to the Instructor Training Course( ITC )

Instructor Trainer Course + FIRST AID + CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

With the Instructor Course (ITC) you will become a Professional trainer and you will be able to teach full courses in the safest and most professional way, as well working with the highest international standards. You’ ll access exclusive job opportunities at more than 400 IKO Centers worldwide.
The future instructor will learn :
- The Instructor’s responsibilities
- The student directives
- To prepare a lesson plan before teaching.
- Checked the weather and equipment before students arrive, their personal equipment ready before the lesson. (Kite leash, helmet, and buoyancy aid.)
- To assess and manage the environment according to other beach users and the spot’s individual characteristics.
- To do SEA before each session.
- Follows the lesson plan. Adapts to students’ progress and failures.
- Teaching skills : Uses the IKO teaching principles
- To communicate professionally with a positive attitude.
- To handle stress and a long working day. (empathize and deal efficiently with difficult situations. )
- To show nature caring behavior and to leave the beach cleaner than he found it.
- To choose appropriate kite size and line lengths for teaching
- To take care of the equipment.
- To be able to trim and fly a school kite (short/long lines) properly in any wind conditions.
- To keeps students safe, teaches safety aspects of kiteboarding (safety system use, safety procedure).
- To make the students independent.
- To show safe behavior while riding.
- To Respects ROW. (Right of Way)
